Over the past two weeks, Israel has conducted extensive air strikes in response to a cross-border attack initiated by Hamas on 7 October.
Official figures state that this violence has led to at least 1,400 deaths in Israel. In the besieged territory, government reports indicate that between 200 and 300 people are being killed daily.
Amidst this campaign, a significant number of Israeli troops are positioned along the borders of Gaza, indicating a potential ground invasion. The military disclosed that one soldier was killed and three others were injured during a tank operation within Gaza.
Israel has issued warnings for over a million residents in northern Gaza to relocate south for their safety.
The United Nations reports that more than half of the 2.4 million population of the territory are now displaced. Despite the risks, hundreds of thousands of civilians are believed to still be in and around Gaza City in the north, either unwilling or unable to leave.
