Today, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Bank met in a videoconference format, at which they discussed issues of enhancing cooperation in the management of transboundary water resources and adaptation to climate change in Central Asia, Dunyo news agency reported.
The meeting was attended by the Manager of the World Bank’s Water and Energy Program for Central Asia (CAWEP) William Young and representatives of the World Bank Office in Uzbekistan.
The meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for interaction between Uzbekistan and the Bank in such areas as strengthening legal and institutional mechanisms for regional cooperation in the water and climate sector, implementing investment projects in the field of adaptation to climate change, water supply, improving people’s access to drinking water and others.
The World Bank experts noted the improvement of interstate cooperation in the water and energy sector, largely due to the pragmatic foreign policy course of the leadership of Uzbekistan in the Central Asia region.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue consultations.
