The retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan in January-February 2022 reached 37.07 trillion soums and increased by 13.3% compared to the same period in 2021, and the turnover of large enterprises amounted to 8.4 trillion soums (growth rate – 54.5%), and small businesses and private entrepreneurship – 25.31 trillion soums (growth rate – 4.2%), including unorganized trade amounted to 3.35 trillion soums (growth rate – 12.5%), the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The retail trade turnover in January-February 2022 reached 37.07 trillion soums and increased by 13.3% compared to the same period in 2021. Compared to the corresponding period in 2021, all regions saw an increase in retail growth.
In the structure of retail trade turnover of the republic, a significant share was noted in Tashkent city, which is 24.1%, or 8.93 trillion soums.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the smallest share was recorded at the level of 1.7%, or 615.4 billion soums, which was noted in Syrdarya region.
Compared to the same period in 2021, significant growth rates in the period under review were noted in Khorezm (126.0%), Jizzakh (123.3%), Navoi (119.0%) regions, in which there was an increase in growth rates in retail trade.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the volume of trade turnover of large enterprises increased by 54.5% and reached 8.4 trillion soums, which is 22.7% of its total volume.
The retail turnover of small businesses and private entrepreneurship, according to statistical calculations, in January-February 2022 amounted to 25.31 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 4.2%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 68.3%.
The share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was the largest in Syrdarya (93.0%), Surkhandarya (92.6%), Kashkadarya (91.2%) and Namangan (90.6%) regions. In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of large enterprises amounted to 22.7% of total sales, their main share was observed in Tashkent city (40.1%), Tashkent (27.7%), Samarkand (25.6%), Khorezm (25.4%) regions.
The retail trade turnover per capita in the republic in January-February 2022 averaged 1.06 million soums (it increased by 11.1% compared to the same period in 2021).
This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was more recorded in Tashkent city (3.17 million soums), Tashkent (1.37 million soums) and Navoi (1 41 million soums) regions.
According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals, the turnover of unorganized trade in January-February 2022 amounted to 3.35 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2021, it increased by 12.5%. Including the turnover of trade in dehkan markets amounted to 1.45 trillion soums (an increase of 16.8%), the turnover of trade in livestock markets was recorded at 1.9 trillion soums (an increase of 9.5%).
According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals involved in the sale of agricultural products, poultry and livestock (grown and kept in personal subsidiary farms), conducted in January-February 2022, the turnover of trade in dehkan markets amounted to 1.45 trillion soums, livestock markets – 1.9 trillion soums.
In January-February 2022, in all regions of the republic, a survey was conducted of individuals involved in the sale of agricultural products (grown in personal subsidiary farms), as a result of which the turnover of this type of trade amounted to 1.45 trillion soums. The high sale of fresh agricultural products reached 667.4 billion soums.
In January-February 2022, in all regions of the republic, a survey was conducted of individuals involved in the sale of birds and livestock (kept in personal subsidiary farms), as a result of which the turnover of this type of trade amounted to 1.9 trillion soums. The sale of livestock of different ages reached 1.46 trillion soums, sheep and goats – 366.3 billion soums, horses – 63.7 billion soums, birds – 10.0 billion soums.
In January-February 2022, in the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of public catering enterprises amounted to 3.4%, reaching 1.25 trillion soums, and increased by 14.6% compared to the same period in 2021. Of these, 77.7% of trade turnover falls on the share of small businesses.
The turnover of public catering in the period under review amounted to 1.25 trillion soums (by January-February 2021 – 14.6%), according to the form of ownership: non-state – 1.24 trillion soums and state – 7.0 billion soums. Compared to the same period in 2021, the turnover of public catering enterprises of the state form of ownership has not changed.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2022, the volume of wholesale trade reached 18.96 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 12.2%. The wholesale trade turnover of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, amounted to 13.1 trillion soums and, compared to the corresponding period in 2021, increased by 11.9%. The share of this sector in the wholesale trade turnover in the republic amounted to 69.1%.
The highest growth rates in the wholesale turnover of large enterprises, compared to 2021, were observed in Bukhara (+15.5%), Namangan (+13.2%) regions and Tashkent city (+19.0%).
In recent years, the role of the public sector in the total volume of wholesale trade has been steadily declining. Thus, for the reporting period, the share of this sector was fixed at the level of 0.1% of the total volume of wholesale trade. The wholesale trade turnover in January-February 2022 amounted to 18.96 trillion soums, including entities of non-state subordination – 18.94 trillion soums, state subordination – 17.8 billion soums.
An analysis of the share of wholesale trade by form of ownership showed that there is still an insignificant share of state ownership in Tashkent city (0.15%), Navoi (0.16%), Andijan (0.05%) regions. In other regions, wholesale trade as a whole is a non-state form of ownership.
