In Uzbekistan, the first “mahalla bankers” have begun their operations. A total of 264 branches have been opened in Tashkent region, and recruitment for local assistant agents is currently underway.
These bankers are responsible for exploring business opportunities, engaging with local residents, and supporting the implementation of their projects. They also assist in securing loans, business setup, and product sales, while collaborating on various initiatives.
In 2025, over 350,000 residents of Tashkent region are expected to be employed through agreements between local hokimiyats and banks, aimed at boosting employment and income levels. Additionally, commercial banks and hokimiyats are holding joint meetings with entrepreneurs to address challenges and promote steady employment for residents.
The first “mahalla bankers” have also started operations in Namangan region, with local authorities calling it an effective reform to ensure social justice and economic stability. Recently, $1 billion was allocated to banks for the “Mahalla Loyihasi” loan program. By February 1, district bank branches are expected to have “mahalla bankers” in place.
