The Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, observed the 46th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15 August with due solemnity and dignity. The embassy said in a statement on Sunday, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Uzbekistan. Jahangir Alam started the day by hoisting the national flag at half-mast. At this time the national anthem is served. Later, wreaths were laid at the portrait of Bangabandhu.

Ambassador Md. Jahangir Alam said the killing of Bangabandhu and his family members was the worst incident in the history of the world. He expressed his deep gratitude to Bangabandhu for bringing freedom to the Bengali nation in just nine months through his visionary and fearless leadership.

The speakers recalled various aspects of the life and work of this great leader of the Bengali nation and expressed deep sorrow over the immense loss of the Bengali nation in his assassination. At the end, a special prayer was offered for the souls of Bangabandhu and other martyred members of his family.
