According to Muhammadjon Rashidov, an analyst at the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, revenues from customs payments in May of this year increased by 20.1% compared to the same period in 2022.
The largest growth in customs revenues was noted in the following five regions: Surkhandarya (by 68.3%), Samarkand (by 38.8%), Jizzakh (by 32.3%), Tashkent (by 23.4%) and the city of Tashkent ( by 34.2%).

The increase in customs revenues was mainly due to an increase in imports of almost 28.2% compared to the same period last year for types of products, including transport equipment and its components, technical equipment, metals and metal products, and food products.
At the same time, exports of fruits, vegetables and textile products decreased in Fergana, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya and Namangan regions, metals and products from them in Tashkent region, plastics in Karakalpakstan, and natural gas in Tashkent.
In most regions, a decrease in yarn exports was noted.
The increase in export volumes in Khorezm, Syrdarya, Andijan, Kashkadarya, Navoi and Bukhara regions is explained by the growing growth in the supply of food products, industrial goods, chemicals and agri-food products.
An analysis of business activity by regions is calculated monthly by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms based on operational data (monitoring for all regions of the republic, according to the data of the State Customs Committee, State Tax Committee, Central Bank and UZEX).
