In Bishkek, the signing of the “road map” for the implementation of the Kambarata HPP-1 project took place.
The agreement, signed by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev and the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov, provides for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 on the Naryn River in Kyrgyzstan with a total capacity of 1860 MW.
The new HPP will take an important place in the electricity and water supply not only of the Kyrgyz Republic, but also of the countries of Central Asia. Its reservoir will have a volume of 5.4 billion cubic meters. The HPP will be able to produce an average of 5.6 billion kWh of electricity annually.
As recalled by the Ministry of Energy, the issue of accelerating the start of construction of the hydroelectric power station was discussed by the presidents as part of the SCO summit held in Samarkand in September 2022.
