On 25 August, a solemn ceremony of presenting credentials by newly appointed ambassadors of foreign states to our country was held.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received credentials from the Ambassadors of Romania Daniel Christian Ciobanu, the Republic of Poland Radoslav Gruk, the Republic of Tajikistan Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, the Swiss Confederation of Konstantin Obolensky and the Federal Republic of Germany Tilo Klinner.
The head of our state sincerely congratulated the ambassadors on the beginning of their diplomatic mission in an important historical period, when the country continues to implement large-scale democratic transformations and socio-economic reforms to establish New Uzbekistan.
Speaking about the priorities of the open and pragmatic foreign policy, the President especially noted the great attention paid to the development of friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with foreign partner countries, primarily with neighboring states.
The successful holding of the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia in early August this year in Turkmenistan, which once again demonstrated the rich agenda of close regional cooperation, was noted with satisfaction.
The leader of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the development of the situation in Afghanistan. It was emphasized that the events taking place in this country today cause the concern of the entire world community.
It was noted that Uzbekistan promotes important initiatives and makes the necessary efforts to facilitate an early settlement of the Afghan crisis.
Thus, the main goal of the High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities”, held in Tashkent on 15-16 July this year, was the creation of conditions for the implementation of large infrastructure projects, contributing to the establishment of long-term peace and economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
The President of Uzbekistan dwelled on the prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation between our country and the states represented by the newly appointed ambassadors.
They noted broad opportunities for the development of bilateral practical cooperation with Romania. This is, first of all, an increase in the volume of mutual trade, cooperation in the textile, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture, transport and logistics.
In this regard, it was proposed to hold the first meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, to intensify contacts and exchanges, including at the level of foreign affairs agencies.
Great attention is also paid to interaction with Romania within the framework of international organizations and dialogue with the European Union.
Poland is a reliable traditional partner of Uzbekistan in Europe. The dynamic development of the Uzbek-Polish multifaceted cooperation in recent years was noted with satisfaction. In addition, cooperation is deepening within the framework of a multilateral dialogue with the EU and through the Visegrad Group.
At the same time, both countries have great untapped potential in such areas as agriculture, mechanical engineering, small business and innovation, education and tourism.
The leader of Uzbekistan stressed that the upcoming contacts at the highest level will give an additional impetus to expanding practical partnership.
The head of our state noted with satisfaction the noticeable progress in the development of Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership.
This is facilitated by regular meetings and the political will of the leaders of the two fraternal countries.
The importance of full-scale implementation of agreements and specific cooperation projects, agreed upon following the historic visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan in June this year, was especially noted.
In addition, our countries closely interact and support each other within the framework of international and regional structures.
Speaking about the prospects for relations with Switzerland, the President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of further developing political dialogue and promoting joint economic projects.
The priority areas are the banking and financial sector, innovations and modern technologies, the food industry, pharmaceuticals, the expansion of the financial and technical assistance program to improve the situation in the Aral Sea region.
The importance of developing a new agenda for practical partnership within the framework of the activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission was emphasized.
Uzbekistan is interested in developing full-scale cooperation and strengthening strategic partnership with Germany.
As the leader of our country noted, regular contacts at the highest level indicate the beginning of a new stage in Uzbek-German relations.
Despite the consequences of the global economic crisis, the volume of mutual trade and the number of joint cooperation projects with the participation of leading German companies are growing.
In addition, the successful start of the offices of KfW Bank, the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and the Organization of Small and Medium Businesses in the republic was noted.
It was emphasized that the intensification of business contacts will make it possible to fully use the huge potential of bilateral economic cooperation.
Concluding his speech, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan sincerely wished the heads of diplomatic missions great success in the implementation of their responsible and honorable mission to strengthen the ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the brief conversation, the diplomats expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the conditions created for fruitful activities in our country. The ambassadors noted that they will make every effort to fully develop partnership relations between our countries.
