President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on May 3, dedicated to the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries. According to the press service of the head of Uzbekistan, the leaders discussed further strengthening of relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.
The focus was on the results of the implementation of the agreements reached during Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan in May last year.
Particular attention was paid to the need for coordinated actions to maintain the growth rate of mutual trade, accelerate the implementation of joint projects in key sectors of the economy and maintain active contacts between regions and business communities.
The presidents highly praised the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom. Central Asia” held in Tashkent, noting its contribution to the expansion of business ties.
Issues of humanitarian cooperation were also discussed, including interaction in the fields of culture, education, science, sports and tourism.
In the context of the upcoming celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the special significance of this date for the peoples of the two countries was emphasized. Shavkat Mirziyoyev confirmed his participation in the anniversary events in Moscow.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin exchanged views on international issues and agreed on a schedule of future meetings.
