A videoconference discussion was held on the concerns of further boosting the potential for tourism within the country as well as tourism from outside the country. The meeting was chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The head of state made mention of the fact that this year marked the beginning of a time of post-pandemic recovery for the tourism industry. Specifically, according to the findings of the statistics:
– in the period up to September, the number of foreign tourists visiting the country increased three times compared to 2021 and amounted to 3.1 million people; – since the beginning of the year, the volume of tourist exports amounted to $926 million (in 2019 – $951 million); – the duration of trips of guests who arrived in the country increased by an average of 4-5 days, and the amount of funds spent – up to $305 (in 2019, these figures were 3 days and $195, respectively
It takes thirty percent of the revenue generated from tourism to cover the cost of labor. This percentage does not go higher than ten percent in business and other areas of the economy. When one job is produced in the tourism industry, it helps to contribute to the development of two jobs in industries that are closely tied to tourism.
The President emphasized that the khokims who understand this engage with entrepreneurs and build tourist routes.
