On 26 July 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Resolution “On amendments and additions to some resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with further improvement of conditions for tourism industry entities”.
On the basis of the resolution, small businesses wishing to establish the activities of family guest houses will be provided with compensation in the amount of 5 billion soums. This amount will be allocated by commercial banks in the national currency, with an interest rate not exceeding 1.5% of the main rate of the Central Bank, for a period of up to three years and to cover the part that exceeds the main rate, but not more than 30% of the main rate. Compensation will be allocated from the Business Support Fund under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.
It is also now possible to create tourist information centers at border crossing points. They are placed at checkpoints across the state border of the Republic of Uzbekistan free of charge.
In accordance with the decision, certification of the services of yurt and tent camps is carried out in a simplified manner by including them in the Unified Register of Family Guest Houses and Hostels on the basis of an inspection report.
As you know, today investors are granted a subsidy only if the newly built hotel has a 3-star category and a room stock of at least 50 rooms or has a 4-star category and a room stock of at least 100 rooms. The resolution enshrines the concept of “newly built hotel”, according to which a hotel built according to an approved project as a capital building and structure or reconstructed over the past ten years without being in the hotel stock is considered a newly built hotel. Also, a newly commissioned facility built as a means of accommodation according to a project changed during the construction process (with the exception of the reconstruction and (or) renovation of a hotel) is also registered as a newly built hotel.
