On 10 December 2021, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting on trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE.
The meeting was attended by the leadership and employees of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, its representative office in the UAE, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Arab Emirates.
The current state of implementation of the existing agreements, the progress of the implementation of joint projects, and the prerequisites for expanding partnerships in promising areas were considered.
The effectiveness of interaction with Emirati partners and the indicators achieved in the implementation of joint projects and initiatives were substantively considered. The need to revise the principles of work with Emirati partners and improve the mechanisms of interaction with the business circles of the UAE in order to effectively use the untapped potential of bilateral economic cooperation was noted.
They especially emphasized the relevance of purposeful work to bring the business communities of the two countries closer together in order to establish direct ties between Uzbek and Emirati entrepreneurs. This will help identify the most promising areas of cooperation and create conditions for reaching specific agreements on the implementation of joint projects.
Instructions were given to develop, together with ministries and departments, an integral strategy for trade and investment cooperation with the UAE, as well as a separate “Roadmap” for building up a bilateral partnership for 2022, indicating specific projects and the timing of their implementation.
