Entrepreneurs and officials from Uzbekistan and the UAE signed new agreements, the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade reported .
On Monday, officials and business leaders from the two countries met in Abu Dhabi ahead of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit. The parties discussed the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as opportunities for its expansion.
By the end of 2024, the volume of trade turnover between the countries reached almost 650 million dollars. There are 337 enterprises with the participation of Emirati investors operating in Uzbekistan, including 114 joint ventures and 223 subsidiaries of foreign companies.
The volume of investments developed last year increased from 1.08 billion to 1.5 billion dollars. The parties are implementing projects in the areas of traditional and alternative energy, chemical industry, geology, IT, agriculture, transport and logistics.
The portfolio of the Uzbek-Emirati investment company (Abu Dhabi Uzbek Investment) includes 7 projects in the fields of medicine, mining, agriculture, and tourism worth $192.5 million. Another 9 initiatives worth $140 million are in development.
At the meeting, 15 more agreements and contracts were signed with AMEA Power, Masdar, Solar Power Shine, M42, Burjeel Holdings (a private healthcare provider in the UAE), IFFCO (manufacturing and exporting consumer goods), TWS, Alserkal Group, Metito, AD Ports, Jetex, Emirates Group, etc.
The documents affect the energy and agricultural sectors, water supply, infrastructure projects, and the transport and logistics industries.
Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and Jetex founder Adel Mardini signed a memorandum under which the company plans to serve VIP and CIP clients at the Tashkent-Vostochny airport under construction on the basis of a public-private partnership in the form of an FBO (Fixed Base Operator). The company planned to enter the Uzbek market back in 2020.
The project also provides for the development of services for the repair, sale and storage of aircraft in the business aviation sector, as well as the introduction of air taxis and VIP taxis.
