A universal high-precision underfloor wheel lathe manufactured by the Spanish company Talgo was put into operation at the Uzbekistan locomotive depot. This machine is designed for turning wheelsets of electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, and electric trains in depot conditions without rolling them out from under the locomotive. The new equipment has a high sensitivity when controlling the movement of wheelsets.
The advantages of the Talgo 3112 universal wheel lathe with numerical control lie in the full-scale computerization and electronic control system, which allow to accurately determine the malfunction of wheelsets using a laser beam, reduce their wear, and most importantly ensure safety the movement of the locomotive in the future. In addition, it was announced that only 5 units of such machines were delivered to our republic and they will also be installed in the locomotive depots “Tinchlik”, “Bukhara”, “Karshi” and “Urgench”.
As we have already emphasized above, a significant advantage of this machine is that in the depot, having a two-way orientation and being installed on high-speed Afrosiyob electric trains and on all other existing locomotives, it sharpens without the need to remove paired wheels. Previously, if it took 4 hours to check one direction on one side of a wheelset, then with a new machine, turning off all wheels in both directions is carried out in just 20-30 minutes.
The machine itself is equipped with a computerized program. The specialists working behind it have successfully completed advanced training courses organized by TALGO specialists and received the appropriate certificates.
After the launch of this machine, it is expected that the cost of purchasing components for locomotives will decrease, due to the reduction of wheelset malfunctions. It is also planned to increase the throughput of passenger and freight trains by reducing the time for maintenance of locomotives.
