The region occupies a key position in the economy of Uzbekistan due to its developed trade, industry, tourism, transport and agricultural sectors.
Within the framework of the planned goals, 120 projects with a total value of 4.1 billion dollars were identified. It is planned to attract investments in the amount of 1.85 billion dollars, create 20 thousand jobs and ensure the production of products for 1.2 trillion soums next year.
Key projects and initiatives
- Creation of an industrial zone in Pastdargomsky district.
On 234 hectares of land it is planned to develop pharmaceuticals, chemistry, electrical engineering, production of building materials and food products. Investments will amount to 500 million dollars. - Development of the Urgut Free Economic Zone.
25 hectares of land around the Zarafshan River will be included in the zone, which will attract $30 million for new projects. - Tourism and Gastronomy:
Plans have been developed to create a 35-kilometer tourist route along the Dargom Canal and a gastronomic bridge over the Narpai Canal. - Efficient use of land.
- In the Samarkand region, it is planned to transform 350 hectares of pastures into a tourist and recreational zone, which will create 3.5 thousand jobs.
- In Bulungursky district, 6 thousand hectares of low-yield grain lands will be allocated for fruit and vegetable growing. This will provide income of over 10 thousand dollars per hectare and will allow employing 45 thousand people.
- Increasing grape yield.
A station for growing seedlings using the in vitro method will be established at the Scientific Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture in Ishtyhan. This will increase the yield by 25-30 centners and add $20 million to exports. - Industrial development.
It is planned to open processing plants based on mineral deposits in six districts of the region.
