On 13 December, the shooting of the tourist TV show “The World’s Dangerous Roads” by the world-famous TV company Warner Brothers ended with a solemn finish in Samarkand.
Assistance in organizing the filming was provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The producers of the program made a special emphasis on showing the mountain regions of Uzbekistan little-known to the mass foreign audience. According to the plot of the TV show, two famous Dutch TV and film actresses Esmee van Kampen and Hanna van Vliet traveled across Uzbekistan in an SUV. Overcoming difficulties and impassable roads, the heroes of the program got acquainted with the culture and life of local residents, tourist attractions.
“Filming in Uzbekistan, according to our vast experience, was the most organized, simple and disciplined – in comparison with filming in other countries. We didn’t have any problems and enjoyed it a lot. I invite other film crews to follow our example and visit Uzbekistan,” said the producer of the show, Manon van Vugt.
The participants of the show visited the regional center Zaamin and the Zaamin National Natural Park. In the villages of Beshkub and Dugoba, they were introduced to the national dish “tandir-gusht” and the special Zaamin bread. The actresses stayed overnight at the Zaamin sanatorium and learned about the unique history of this complex.
Driving along the Zaamin-Bakhmal road, Warner Brothers became the first major world television company to see this previously closed route through a lens. The participants of the show stopped for the night on the shore of the lake in the yurt camp “Aydarkul”, where they got acquainted with folk music and took part in the game “kupkari”.
The next day, Esmee van Kampen and Hannah van Vliet overcame the difficult path through the Nurata Mountains, in conditions of poor visibility and a difficult mountain trail without coverage. The program finished at the Registan Square in Samarkand, along the way getting acquainted with the activities of the NGO “Rakhmdillik”.
The show is aimed at TV viewers in the Netherlands and will be released in 2022.
